Killer Bunny: Colour & Inspiration Tuesday

Lunarcy Quilt: Year of the Rabbit Block Release Day

The Chameleon is a Rabbit. He argued his case last week to be a Dragon, but the prosecution asserts that he first popped into existence in 2011. That is, during the most recent Year of the Rabbit. And a birthday is a birthday – so a Rabbit he is, and a Rabbit he must stay.

Actually, the Chameleon seems to be taking the rebuttal quite well now, really. He says he likes being a Rabbit after all. Rabbits are dangerous and scary. Super scary. Take the specimen on our latest colour scheme for instance. Definitely a killer bunny.

A killer bunny, you say?! I don’t think so.

The Chameleon knows you don’t *want* it to be a killer bunny, but he says he has an eye for such things. So, he wants you to have a careful think: Are you are sure it’s not a killer bunny?!

Really sure?!

You have to admit, the Chameleon has considerable experience in the arts of disguise and camouflage….. I wouldn’t blink if I were you.

You are here for the Lunarcy, right? Expecting sanity around here would be lunacy at the best of times, and the moon is nearly full again. It is, apparently, going to be a Wolf Moon….. the Rabbit on the Moon shall have big teeth and Lunarcy abounds! bahahaha! 😀

OK…….. enough silliness. Time to download the Year of the Rabbit Lunarcy quilt pattern before all this comes back to bite me.

Here be Dragons!: Colour & Inspiration Tuesday

Lunarcy Quilt: Year of the Dragon Block Release Day

Should it be any surprise that the Chameleon thinks he is a Dragon?

A Chinese legend concerning the origin of the dragon tells of an Emperor who waged war with nine tribes. As he defeated each tribe he added features of their totems to his own. Thus the dragon ended up with a lion’s mane, bug eyes like a shrimp, a big mouth like a bull, a nose like a dog, whiskers like a catfish, antlers like a deer, scales like a fish, a long tail like a snake, and claws like a hawk. The Chameleon has but one word for such a professional ishape shifter…. RESPECT!!!! 😀

The Chinese Dragon symbolizes power, nobleness, honor, luck, and success; a supernatural being of talent and excellence. Dragons like to embrace challenges, take risks and lead with aplomb. The Chameleon truly believes that he is all these things and much much more! So he must be a Dragon, right? Did I ever mention that he is one thoroughly vain lizard?! Truly, he looks in the mirror and see this:

And so it is that I am often left wondering both how to tame my crazy “Dragon” friend, and why my alter ego is far more Dragon-like than me. While I am a bonafide, card-carrying Dragon but certified introvert who is happy to leave leadership to other people, the flamboyant, irrepressible Chameleon is actually a tender and lovely fluffy bunny Rabbit. Don’t tell him, but my earliest concept sketches of the Chameleon are from mid 2011, not 2012. He’s gonna have some issues to work through with that, so let’s just change the topic and release the Year of the Dragon block instead. Shhhh.

Sniggering Snakes!: Colour & Inspiration Tuesday

Lunarcy Quilt: Year of the Snake Block Release Day

What do you call a python with no clothes on?

Snaked.

Hissssterical, right?! Well, my 10 year old lad thought so. Bahahaha.

Just dropping in with some Chameleon hiss-trionics to distract you from real life. 2020 might be hiss-tory but it seems that some of the dramas are taking a while to scale back. So while we patiently ant-hiss-ipate better times ahead, how about some more Lunarcy?

I don’t asp-ecially like snakes, but every zodiac critter is important. And the snake pattern is up next in the Lunarcy schedule.

So we’d better get on and adder the Year of the Snake block to our Lunarcy appliqué collection!

Just Horsin’ Around: Colour & Inspiration Tuesday

A little horse colour board at Clever Chameleon

Lunarcy Quilt: Year of the Horse Block Release Day

Happy New Year! I hope that 2021 will hold many moments of friendship, colour and fun for you all. Rainbows all round.

Having said that, I’ve already had my first small 2021 “scare”….. New Year’s Day: the Chameleon dragged himself dejectedly out of bed, claiming that it was time he started acting his age and being responsible. No more silly internet posts for him! On closer inspection, I noticed he was off colour and a little bit hoarse.

Thankfully he was just pranking me and trying to stirrup trouble. Of course, I should have known better.

He’s always trying to be the centaur of attention! 😀

Stop foaling around, young Chameleon! We’ve got some serious Lunarcy to be getting on with – it’s time to release the Year of the Horse block.

Lunarcy Quilt: Year of the Goat Block Release Day

Welcome to a special edition of Colour & Inspiration….. yes, it’s a Thursday. One last curveball for you for 2020. Might as well finish the year in the manner to which we have become accustomed! 😀 And besides, I was flat out like a lizard drinking on Tuesday, moving the last of our things between houses. It’s good to be done now though. 2020 has a line under it and 2021 is a clean slate.

I hope you had a great Christmas. We had a lovely quiet one in the lull between episodes of moving house. We got the tree up with rudimentary decorations on Christmas Eve, and all the presents bought and wrapped on time. Santa’s cover is intact while my kids still choose to engage in their carefully cultivated temporary suspensions of disbelief.

Our preparations did not stretch to Christmas crackers on the table though and I can’t say I missed them. But I researched one last baaaad but relevant Christmas joke just for you anyway….

How does a Goat sign his Christmas cards?
Season’s Bleatings!

I can’t think of a better way to see 2020 out than with a goat. Just kidding. I totally can (curries aside). Butt, a goat appliqué to kick off my New Year’s Eve is a good start. Writing this, I did find out one last interesting thing for the year – the group noun for goats is “a trip or a tribe”. Perfect. 2020 has been pretty trippy, on and off collectively speaking – so let’s honour its passing with the Lunarcy goat.

And thanks for being part of my tribe in 2020.
