Gingerbread Inspiration: Colour & Inspiration Tuesday

Gingerbread Snow globe cupcake colour scheme by Clever Chameleon

Sometimes it’s not about the colours….. (*shock*, I know!). Sometimes, an idea is so awesome, it would grab me in any colour. Today’s inspiration photo from rawpixel on Unsplash.com has me reeling with possibilities in both the kitchen and in the sewing room! All I did was type “gingerbread” into the search bar of Unsplash, and my world changed forever!

OK, so it’s probably not really quite that drastic, but there is definitely some fun to be had here!

Getaway bog hop with Island Batik

While I process my newest ideas, and decide whether the gingerbread cupcake snow globe quilt squirrel is a chaser or a leaver… here’s something to keep you busy. We are now into the third week of the Island Batik Getaway blog hop. I hope you are noticing lots of new inspiring fabric collections in this hop that are getting your own creative juices flowing!

Today’s weekly Tuesday Inspiration post is a relatively simple affair – come and see the next five Island Batik fabric collections being showcased this week. Find out who scored the Chameleon’s inspiration feature spot from last week’s link up. And of course, link up this week and show us what you are working on. I hope I will see you at this week’s party.

Sew, sew as fast as you can, you can’t quilt me, I’m the Ginger-meleon!

This week’s Chameleon feature goes to Stacey at The Farmhouse in the Field for her invitation to join her in making a Christmas themed BOM designed by Sew Emma. It is Stacey’s fault that I was looking for gingerbread pictures on Unsplash. Because Stacey made and linked up the first block of her quilt, the gingerbread man. Isn’t he the cutest thing!?!

Although in our house, the current cookies cutters of choice are actually Ninjabread men! Aren’t they fun too?!

I would dearly like to have a go at making edible gingerbread man snowglobes one day…. I wonder how hard it is to make those gelatin globe tops?

Oh gingerbread man, you are soooo not safe in there!

And all this gingerbread talk reminds me, my friend Joy at Days filled with Joy is working on gingerbread house stitcheries designed by her daughter. You might want to check that out if you like hand stitching and calorie-free gingerbread!

While I go explain to the not-so-clever Chameleon why disguising oneself as a gingerbread cookie is a baaad idea.

And then I’ll meet you back here for this week’s party!

Show us what you are currently working on or have just finished

Tell us – what are you working on, or have recently finished in your sewing room? We want to know so we can visit and be inspired. Link up a blog post, an IG post or simply a photo from your computer.  See if you can get the Chameleon to turn quilted with happiness. We’d love to see your quilting colours!

Guidelines
  • Link up your latest or recent quilt/sewing excitement. All quilt construction stages welcome – finished quilts, quilt blocks – even fabric pulls! Or inspiration sources!
  • You have 50 characters in the link description…. tell us who you are and what your fantastic project is.
  • URL links are not necessary to link up…. non-bloggers 100% welcome! If you don’t have a URL, you can link up with just a photo.
  • Take a moment to visit some friends who came to the party – leave a little love and make their day. And a link back to Clever Chameleon is always appreciated.
  • Do it now……. before you forget!

  1. As soon as I saw that snow globe encased gingerbread man I thought, Ooh! your coasters! I am behind in the hop but under the sun which is a good place to be if you’re from Canada in January! Or enero as they say here so I’ve learned!
