Koala Kapers: Colour & Inspiration Tuesday

Koala Kapers, an appliqué colour board from the Clever Chameleon

What are you up to this week?

I have been doing mostly secret sewing….. lots of fun stuff for Island Batik and a little for a New Zealander designer too, but not much I can show right now.

Love with a twist button

Luckily there is one thing that is 100% mine to show though. I have been working on the first balloon animal appliqué for March. I will say, I have fallen in love with this next block of Love with a Twist…. a Kuddly Koala!

Of course we can take a peek at what others have been working on recently too. There were a lot of great link ups last week, come visit a few in depth with the Chameleon and me!

Next Love with a Twist block: Kuddly Koala

As you can see, this block is progressing quite nicely. I have appliqué pieces finalised and tested. Now all I have to do is sew it down and finish writing the pattern.

I hope you are inspired…. because it’s all I’ve got. Everything else is under embargo or hasn’t been done yet. I can share a more personal moment instead. Tonight my daughter finished her Grey Wolf Award by leading a two hour hike at Cub Scouts. The Grey Wolf is the top award an Australian Cub Scout can achieve and it has been several years in the making. So this proud Mama bear is not really thinking about quilting tonight anyway.

But I have been thinking about quilting most of the week……

What caught the Chameleon’s eye this week?

We had such a lovely lot of link ups at last week’s Colour and Inspiration party.

Orange quilted Clever Chameleon logo

The Chameleon was just as tickled orange as Alycia at Alycia Quilts – Quiltygirl was with her quilt finish… A long time coming, but just so deliciously orange!

Take a look at the full quilt! Of course there are many more photos and details to check out on Alycia’s post. Go take a look.

Clever Chameleon going for a caravan ride

Being all dressed up, the Chameleon then thought he ought to get out and about. And travel in style! Jen at de Jong Dream House didn’t disappoint, sending the Chameleon on his first ever horse and carriage ride!

The story about these quilts is a real feel-good moment you will not want to miss.

And while he was out admiring the view, the Chameleon felt compelled to smell impersonate the roses. He likes to think he is always growing 🙂

Carla at Creatin’ in the Sticks inspired him with her first Island Batik Ambassador project – a terrific mini. With a reminder to grow through life’s little challenges…. like the monthly Island Batik challenges.

And what’s even more terrific, is that Carla has shared her beautiful little project as a free downloadable pdf pattern. So you can bloom too. Head on over to get your copy.

I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s bumper crop of Colour & Inspiration. I did.

How about joining us this week?

Tell us – what are you working on, or have recently finished in your sewing room? We want to know so we can visit and be inspired. Link up a blog post, an IG post or simply a photo from your computer.  See if you can get the Chameleon to turn quilted with happiness. We’d love to see your quilting colours!

  • Link up your latest or recent quilt/sewing excitement. All quilt construction stages welcome – finished quilts, quilt blocks – even fabric pulls! Or inspiration sources!
  • You have 50 characters in the link description…. tell us who you are and what your fantastic project is.
  • URL links are not necessary to link up…. non-bloggers 100% welcome! If you don’t have a URL, you can link up with just a photo.
  • Take a moment to visit some friends who came to the party – leave a little love and make their day. And a link back to Clever Chameleon is always appreciated.
  • Do it now……. before you forget!

  1. A fun post today. Good for the Chameleon for getting out and for growing. I always enjoy your posts. Cant wait for this adorable Koala to come out. Thank you for sharing your hard work.

  2. You are a busy girl. Love the highlights this week. Jen at de jong dream house is new to me. What a wonderful blog.

  3. MR Chameleon could get lost and Mr Koala feel right at home in my share this week. I love how Love with a twist is coming together. It is adorable. Thank you so much for the linky party.

    1. Dionne! You are your clever chameleon make me giggle. I always hope you feature my quilts because it’s so fun to see your chameleon change to my pattern. I had so much fun making those quilts with my father-in-love. Makes me excited to see him this summer!

  4. The koala is adorable. If I weren’t in the car (on the ferry about 5 mintues from the road) I would drop everything and make it!

  5. Your koala is super cute, and the fabric you chose is perfect for the fur; the color variations in the batik look just like thick fur pile with the light.
