Peacock Parade: Colour & Inspiration Tuesday and Linky Party

Peacock Parade colour scheme from Clever Chameleon

Colour Inspiration Tuesday is back! There are New Fabrics in town! And there are Prizes to win!

Welcome to back to our Colour & Inspiration Tuesday routine with my most favourite inspiration of all! New batik fabrics!

It’s that time of year when the newest fabrics fluff up their feathers and put on their most extravagant of courting performances, targeting your hearts and your wallets for a new nest to live in. Fair warning – there are a lot of new pretties out there, and their covet-factor is sky high. Allow these hard-to-cut-into fabrics to come to roost at your place at your own peril!

But just looking can’t hurt, can it? Let’s go fabric-twitching to spot never-before-seen batik specimens! Follow me into the wild world of the latest Island Batik fabric releases if you dare….. For those of you intrepid enough to face the economic peril of spotting something you weren’t previously aware you neeeeeded, there are opportunities to win big, and inspiration to be had. Who’s with me?!

Welcome to the Island Batik end-of-Ambassador-year blog hop

The last project of the 2018 Ambassador year promises to be the biggest! Starting now, there are four weeks of colourful inspiration coming your way. Four weeks of batik eye-candy, brought to you by Island Batik and their 2018 Ambassadors. The theme of the blog hop is “Getaway”, but Ambassadors were allowed to ignore this if they felt their allocated fabric had a higher calling. It shall be interesting to see where all the new fabric releases lead us.

Here is the list of Island Batik Ambassadors who are presenting in the first week of the blog hop and the fabrics that they are showing.

WEEK 1

Five proud fabric collections strutting their stuff to get you started. I have already visited Sandra and Maryellen’s Crystal Ball blog posts, and all I can say is “wow!”. If you see something you’d like, remember to ask your local quilt shop. If they don’t already have them, these fabrics are available for them to order in now.

Making the most of this hop

My turn to display my batik plumage is next week. Wednesday to be precise. And I am still, quite predictably, madly working on my Paisley Park quilt. Pretty, pretty pretty! Don’t miss your chance to win some Paisley Park samples, right here on Clever Chameleon on the 16th.

Also, head over to the main post at Island Batik to enter for their prize of “A rainbow of 20 Fat Quarters of Island Batik Basics”. Make sure you visit each of the Ambassador posts individually to enter for their prizes too. There are a lot of prizes!

More News

Now seems like a good time to share the exciting news that I will be returning as an Island Batik Ambassador for 2019. 🙂 The official letter came through this morning and my new box of fabrics have started their obligatory languishing period in LA before they cross over to the fun side of the planet to languish in Sydney instead.

Expect a fun post revealing all the goodies I receive for the first half of the Ambassador year sometime after customs have finished ogling them. Well, who can blame them? While we wait….. tell me….

How was your Christmas/New Year? Do you have show and tell for the Chameleon?

Our previous inspiration link up was open over the entire holiday break, as I needed time to get on top of things and to just fully enjoy the festivities around me. Our feature from that period goes to….. someone who linked up inspiration from her recent getaway, of course.

Andrée of Quilting and Learning shared with us handmade lace she saw in Venice. Venice is definitely on my wishlist of Getaway places! And lace is definitely a fun addition to quilts.

Also, I am always a big fan of charity quilters, so a second shoutout goes to Susan of Quilt Fabrication for linking up her fast, easy and free Quarter Cut quilt tutorial. Susan whipped up some quilts for the people of Paradise and shows you how you can easily do the same. Head on over and give her some moral support, or better yet, get some stash moving and make up a quilt or two to give to someone less fortunate.

Then you’ll have room for all those new Island Batik must-haves!

But before you do that, show us what you are working on! Join the first 2019 Tuesday Colour & Inspiration Linky Party. We want to see your finished quilts, your quilts-in-progress, your ideas and your inspiration sources. All of it!

Guidelines:

  • Link up your latest or recent quilt/sewing excitement. All quilt construction stages welcome – finished quilts, quilt blocks – even fabric pulls! Or inspiration sources!
  • You have 50 characters in the link description…. tell us who you are and what your fantastic project is.
  • URL links are not necessary to link up…. non-bloggers 100% welcome! If you don’t have a URL, you can link up with just a photo.
  • Take a moment to visit some friends who came to the party – leave a little love and make their day. And a link back to Clever Chameleon is always appreciated.
  • Do it now……. before you forget!

The Chameleon turns rainbow with pleasure when he hears from you. I am more reserved, so I will respond in gratitude by email instead. Now that it’s your turn…. Scroll right to the end, leave me a comment and tell me, what do you think? Thanks for connecting!

  1. Loved the posts opening colours this morning Dione. Here I am riding along on the whirlwind of your post today. Excitement throughout. Thanks for listing the Island Batik ambassadors with dates for the blog hop. It makes it much easier to visit everyone. Another fabulous year of colour and design for 2019 as you continue to represent Island Batiks as one of the Ambassadors. Congratulations, and we’ll be right here with you.

  2. I’m loving what I’m seeing so far on this hop…and it’s only day two! This is a lovely hop and I appreciate having only 2 different blogs to get ideas from every day…it allows me to actually see and think about their creations. Plus it stretches everything out for a month!!

  3. Hi Dione! Oh man, that peacock is just gorgeous. That turquoise or teal color – I am always drawn right in to it. I’m glad to hear you are an IBA again for 2019. I’m looking forward to seeing your project on the hop. Happy Tuesday. ~smile~ Roseanne
