Peekaboo Penguin! Colour & Inspiration Tuesday

Peek a boo penguin colour board at Clever Chameleon Quilting

This is the Last Penguin Tease!

I promise! December is just around the corner, so I can show you all of my penguin project very soon. But I am very pleased to be able to tell you that the penguins are done and are ready for their photo shoot.

In other news, I have finished my octopus label for the Safe Harbour Seahorses, and we have a winner for the Blue Sea fabrics offered on the “A Piece Of….” blog hop.

And of course, there’s our weekly party to attend. Happy Tuesday!

Blue Sea Housekeeping

Safe Harbour Seahorses quilt

Do you remember how I thought that the octopus fabric in the Blue Sea collection would make a great label for Safe Harbour Seahorses? Well, thanks to the magic of a deadline (I had to send my sewing machine off for it’s scheduled servicing), I got it done! Labels are not really my strong suit, but I always appreciate them later.

Whether you see evil intent or intelligent concentration in this intense face, the octopus’ strong character really lets him shine in a setting like this. I love him in this context. My guard octopus!

And speaking of the octopus, congratulations are in order for Mary Thomas for her winning comment for the Blue Sea fabrics offered on the “A Piece of…..” blog hop.

My hubby’s pick of the comments left in reply to the question “If you won this fabric pack, what might you make with it?” was this:

Mr. O would take center spot in a banner I would make to hang beneath the sign in my studio that reads “Beware of Octopus”, much in the manner of the original “Beware of Dog” signage that meant to warn visitors not of viscous beasts but of delicate racing dogs easily injured if stepped upon.

Of course, then dear hubby started on about Pacific Northwest Tree Octopuses…. I took one for the team, dear friends, until I could politely extricate myself to go check on the Drop Bears and Hoop Snakes. Possibly a clever tactic on Paul’s part to be excused from any more judging duties?

My escape from that situation reminds me of a well known penguin saying: “Just smile and wave, boys, smile and wave!”. So, speaking of penguins again…..

I promised you a Penguin Tease…

Ever wondered what a Penguin Tease actually looks like? No?! Surely you are wondering now though…..

If you’d rather maintain your innocence, skip the (slide) show, and head straight for the after party.

But if you are game, sashay right this way…. even better, if you know the tune “You can Leave Your Hat On….” start humming now!

What a tease! Like I told you last week though, you still have to wait for December for the full monty.

But since both penguins are finished, and the Safe Harbour Seahorses quilt is even more finished than before, I am linking up to TGIFF at Kathleen McMusing.

The After Party – Let’s sashay around the Internet

Parties are better with gifts. Simples.

And what better gift than a stuffed toy made with love? Like two cheeky penguins. 😀 Or a rhinoceros. Gail’s rhino at Quilting Gail is a reminder for herself of her amazing trip to Africa. And like my penguins, Gail’s rhino is made with Island Batik fabric from a Funky Friends pattern. Souvenir he may be, but he’d also be a great gift.

Becca at Pretty Piney has linked up a tutorial for these adorable gift card cases -another terrific gift idea. In fact Becca’s link is your portal to a whole list of fresh holiday project ideas so pop over and take a look.

Of course, we want ourselves one of these for our business cards now!

And a final recommendation: no one plans Christmas Sewing in advance like my friend Joy at Days filled with Joy! This week she added yet another installment to her sew Early for Christmas series of small gift project ideas. This week’s list includes potholders, easy travel bags, Christmas ornaments charm square coasters and lavender pouches. Go check it out!

I hope you have enjoyed all the gift ideas and virtual parties. To all my readers celebrating Thanksgiving this week, I wish you a very happy real-life party with family or friends as well!
