Beary Colourful BOM: Taking Time Out Teal Bear

Teal Bear of Taking Time Out appliqué by Dione of Clever Chameleon

Today we meet the most chilled out bear of the Beary Colourful family. Please welcome the blue-green Teal Bear of Taking Time Out!

Teal Bear is ready for a holiday. Or a weekend of leisure. Or even just a few hours of unbooked time. He loves taking time out of his busy schedule to smell the roses or shoot the breeze. Today he is in the mood to head down the beach without any particular plan….. build a sand castle, collect some shells, have a paddle, or maybe just get some sand between his toes. Uncomplicated time with a few friends or family, or even  some relaxed alone time.

Beary Colourful Bear BOMPlease welcome the very refreshing Novem-Bear of Taking Time Out to the Beary Colourful family. His blue-green colours are of the revitalising and invigorating powers of water and recreation. Beaches, lakes, rivers – they all have a powerful attraction for people needing some time away from it all.

The eleventh bear in the Beary Colourful Quilt BOM series is adamant that you need to take a breather occasionally. Add this relaxed bear to your collection as an encouragement to find some restoration time. And then go check out the rest of the 2018 Color Challenge posts for other ideas of how to celebrate blue-green colours and enter for November’s Monthly Color Challenge prize. And scroll right to the end of the post to find out about two little prizes to be won right here on Clever Chameleon.

November is nearly upon us, which means several things…..

  • You need to finish up your Blue-Violet creations before the end of Wednesday and get them linked up to Patterns by Jen for your chance to win a $25 voucher for Cherrywood Fabrics.
  • There are only two sleeps until the 11th Beary Colorful Bear arrives and sneak peeks are in full swing on Facebook.
  • We get to start thinking about my favourite part of the colour wheel… Blue-Green for November.
  • And my boy is nearly 8. Turns out, he is suddenly developing quite the sense of humour….

Aurora Star Revisit: Colour Inspiration Tuesday and Link Party

Today I have for you a recycled idea and a brand new quilt!

Starstruck theme by Island BatikFor September, the theme for the Island Batik Ambassador projects is “Starstruck”. This theme immediately and happily put me in mind of a quilt design I conceived for Colour Inspiration Tuesday last November. Finally, I had a reason to put “Aurora Star” at the top of the ideas-to-play-with priority queue. Then, noticing that it’s now Bloggers’ Quilt Festival Week,  I found the extra motivation I needed to get a quilt finish on the table asap. Literally. Ha! There’s a filthy big clue to what I’ve made this week.  🙂

Colour Inspiration Tuesday: Welcome to My House blog hop

Welcome to My House color scheme by Clever Chameleon

My house is part shambles, part memories, part make-do, and all love. So is my mini quilt!

Welcome to My House! This is my stop on the latest fun blog hop being hosted by Carol of Just Let Me Quilt where every stop has a project with a house on it.

Well…… most stops……. technically my mini quilt doesn’t feature a house after all. I started with the best of intentions, but being improv, it evolved slightly.

Welcome to My House blog hop

But it is a quilt that features the essence of a building, and every kid you know will wish they lived there. And it started life as a house quilt. So I think it still counts. Welcome to the “my kids wish it was” My House blog hop stop!

Banksia Bonanza: Colour Inspiration Tuesday and Link Party

Banksia Bonanza color scheme from Clever Chameleon

Welcome to Australian Spring!

Here in Adelaide the 1st of September is officially Spring. But the signs have been around for a few weeks….. a lot of native plants here flower in late winter before it gets too hot and dry. Likewise, the pesky possum who persistently calls our shed home has been wearing her latest baby on her back for a while now.

Last weekend we had the opportunity to meet a Filipino lad we helped group-sponsor through university. The meeting was held at the Adelaide Zoo, which of course was bursting with both flora and fauna Spring-ness. The flower above is a banksia planted near the little penguin exhibit. We have about 170 species of banksia in Australia, with an incredible diversity in the plants, leaves and flowers. Plenty of inspiration for a quilt among them, that’s for sure.

Here’s another completely different but also beautiful banksia from near the Australian sea lions…….
