Geometric Kitty: Colour & Inspiration Tuesday

Geometric Kitty colour board from Clever Chameleon

Welcome to Colour & Squirrel Tuesday!

Last night I was sifting through my email inbox and came across a reminder that September is Make Modern Magazine’s birthday month, and that they are throwing a party. And we all know how the Chameleon loves a party, so I thought I should take an evening off the paperwork to join in the festivities.

The result? An orange patchwork cat mini quilt top, and a very small dent in my orange and brown fabric scraps. 😀 The party runs until the end of September, so consider this your invitation! The Chameleon always loves a “plus one”.

Sew Melodic: Colour & Inspiration Tuesday

June is “Try It” month for the Island Batik Ambassadors, where we get free rein to choose a technique that we haven’t done before and give it a whirl on any project. New technique, Island Batik fabrics; that’s it for the rules.

So, I thought – “It is about time I tried the traditional method of paper-piecing”….. you know the one….. the method with the actual foundation paper. 😀 I have done freezer paper paper-piecing before, when I first started patchwork and quilting, but I’ve never done a project using a paper foundation that you stitch through.

It’s going quite well, I think. Wanna know what I am making?

Pick a Pumpkin: Colour Inspiration Tuesday and Link Party

Pumpkin colour scheme by Clever Chameleon

The Pick A Pumpkin blog hop is here!

Carla from Creatin’ in the Sticks has organised you yet another fantastic blog hop. This time around the theme is pumpkins…. big pumpkins, small pumpkins, friendly pumpkins, mean ones….. Ok, so she didn’t really give explicit permission to quilt nasty pumpkins, but she did say any quilt, any size – so long as it has a pumpkin on it somewhere.

I really like pumpkins for decorative purposes – so many colours, shapes and textures! Like many Northern Hemisphere seasonal traditions, this is not really a thing we do well in Australia. But I  did develop a greater appreciation of the scope of pumpkins available when we lived in Europe a few autumns past. How to bring some of that art home without breaking any quarantine laws? Quilts, of course!

Fabulous Freebies – Quilt Binding Resources and a Free Appliqué Pattern

Have a Really Great Fall appliqué pattern at Clever Chameleon

Today is the fourth day of the Fabulous Freebies blog hop. Isn’t that Great!?!

This is the hop where we get to tell you about our favourite online quilting freebies….. resources we have found or written in the past and still love now. And there are plenty of new freebies going around too! This generous hop is hosted by the very interesting, funny and talented Joan of Moosestash Quilting. If you are not already a regular at Joan’s you are missing out, not just on fun quilting banter, but her unique garden and her adorable kittens too. Do head over there once you are finished here!

My contribution to the Fabulous Freebies hop today is a post rounding up my favourite binding tutorials. And I have a new free appliquéd wall hanging pattern for you as well – to try out your new favourite binding on. It’s big enough to have a good honest try at a binding technique, small enough to finish! Create it in readiness for Fall (of course if you are in the Southern Hemisphere you have a LOT of time to get this done before next Autumn). Regardless, it is a fun cheeky design and I hope it gives you a smile.

That’d be better than Great. It’d be……

Fabric of Nepal – Colour Inspiration Tuesday and Link Party

Nepal Colours color scheme at Clever Chameleon

Gifts from Nepal

At times my husband travels overseas for work. One of the conditions of him being granted domestic leave to do so is that he brings back something interesting from the country(s) he’s visited. 🙂 These days his peace offerings are often fabric – did I ever tell you hubby is one smart little cookie?! Fabric bribes are quite an effective grease for the bureaucratic wifey wheels  around here. lol

With Paul just back from his latest trip, the question of the week is….. what to do with my new pretties?
