Warm Wishes: Colour & Inspiration Tuesday

Christmas Star colour board at Clever Chameleon

The Christmas Season is Heating Up!

The tree is up, presents are bought, plans are mostly laid. The weather outside is variable; this week it is stinking hot, until it’s not. It’s going to be 44C by Friday. For those of you not familiar with Celcius to Farenheit, 44C is about 111F. Then Saturday will have a maximum of 25C….. that will be one heck of a cool change when it blows through. It’s starting to feel a lot like Christmas!

weather forecast

Although 44C is not the hottest we’ve ever had (46.6C in Jan 2019), it will equal our hottest December day on record. In fact, heat records are set to fall in much of this sunburnt country of ours this week while I try to pack and quilt. Two not-so-great options for this weather, but we have health, water and shelter, and no bushfires nearby – a lot to be thankful for. Christmas Day will be more like our December average of 28C.

And in harmony with end-of-year thankfulness, it’s that time of year when the Chameleon expresses his gratitude to you my readers by breaking out in song. Continue reading for your annual dose of Clever Chameleon Quilty Christmas Carols!

Whoop whoop! It is time for our annual Christmas tune parody….. Your weekly inspiration party features, my Love with a Twist quilt still in progress, and the Chameleon’s 2019 vanity projects are all part and parcel of this “gift” to you!

Get the tune of “I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas” in your head and belt this one out of the park! Hahaha, enjoy!

La la la………

I want a clever Chameleon for Christmas
Only a brilliant Chameleon will do
Don’t want a frog, no stinky dinky dog
I want a Chameleon, so the limelight he can hog

I want a clever Chameleon for Christmas
I don’t think Quarantine will mind, do you?
Disguised as a towel, or plate-cosy, new
Ensconced in Santa’s sleigh
Border Force will have no clue!

I can see him now on Christmas morning
Peeping out my sack
Oh what joy and what surprise
When I suffer no more flies
Because my awesome Chameleon’s got the knack!

I want a clever Chameleon for Christmas
Only a gifted Chameleon will do
No crocodiles, or friendly elephants
I only likes smart Chamele-pants!
And clever Chameleons like my Readers, too

Some say that Clever’s more trouble than he’s worth
Hopefully you’d argue, he’s a harmless source of mirth

He enjoys it when you join in, in weekly linky posts
I appreciate your comments and love meeting great blog hosts

I can’t see him now on Christmas morning
He’s hiding in the fir
But what joy and utter glee
when he licks up every flea
Mr Mew, my quilting buddy, is gonna purr and purr

I want a clever Chameleon for Christmas
Only the brightest Chameleon will do
No cheeky monkeys, or naughty tall giraffes
I only likes Chameleons for laughs

  1. I always wanted a hippopotamus for Christmas, and now I want a clever Chameleon too! And all our balloon friends look so wonderful and festive. I definitely will be singing that all day.
I just got in from walking the dog, it has been snowing, we both came in covered – it is wet and sticking to everything. And as a contrast to your temps it is 0 C here – much more conducive for quilting.
I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas – all the best! Take care and safe travels.

  2. I’d certainly take a Clever Chameleon over a hippopotamus any day, especially if he ate stink bugs and box elder beetles. The hippo would probably help control the deer population, but would leave giant footprints in the garden. Snowing here and we will have nighttime temps in the single Fahrenheit digits come Wed and Thurs.

  3. I’m getting the giggles just reading the comments! Clever Chameleon can come and hang at my quilt studio anytime. You have some really warm temps happening; it’s snowy and chilly here, although today is mild, I think (haven’t been out yet; need to get out of my jammies first – haha). Hope your packing is going well!

  4. Wow I can only dream of hot weather this time of year. It was 18f this morning and the weather man announced 50f by Sunday. That is a heat wave. It will make for a very muddy Christmas. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

  5. Hi Dione! Humming away here . . . WOWEE! That is h.o.t. But not too hot to put you in the Christmas spirit. Thanks for the fun post! I wish you and Clever and all your friends and family the merriest of Christmases. I hope the packing, sewing, move, etc. all go smoothly. {{Hugs}} . ~smile~ Roseanne

  6. Very clever Dione, thanks for the smiles this morning. Not enjoying this heat, but very thankful also for no fires, and the power on for the air con, and shelter. How soon are you moving?? Enjoy your witty posts and all that you do. I appreciate just how much time you spend blogging, thankyou and Merry Christmas to you and yours.

  7. A very Happy Christmas and New Year to you! I know you will be so busy trying to get it all together to move. Thank you for the little Christmas ditty, always fun! Look forward to hearing about the chameleon’s outback adventures!

  8. The heat in Australia was on our news this morning, not good at all. Whether it’s heat or cold, I always worry and feel bad for the wildlife and farm animals who can’t escape it. I like the chameleon’s traditions. 😉 I’m not writing any names of songs in an effort to keep all earworms at bay.

  9. You have a clever chameleon for Christmas. Just look in the mirror!
Definitely clever, always original, and so many changes of quilting colour! Good luck with the upcoming move, and stay safe.

  10. Merry Christmas, Dione! Our weather will just be a little warmer than yours on Christmas Day. It is supposed to be around 70 here, which is a little higher than normal for us. Of course, here in Alabama, if you don’t like the weather, just wait 30 minutes! LOL

  11. I do think a Chameleon will be easier to get into the house than a hippopotamus! I’ve always worried about that when I hear the song. Thanks for the fun parody! Merry Christmas!
